"Warrior's Resolve (Warrior Trilogy Pt. 2)"
  by the struggle
  - This Poem is a response to the poem Warrior's Rise (Warrior Trilogy Pt. 1) by the struggle

6/19/08

fighting for so long
weary of blood stains,

my soul grows old
aged by sight of men slain

a warrior am i now,
innocence flown away.

but were it up to me?
innocence i'd reclaim.

my knees want to waver,
but still i must stand

my sword grows heavy,
yet it rises once again

with all the battles i've waged,
even more rage inside.

but i refuse to give in
i resolve to fight.

i've slain so many,
but more still rise

i rush in towards them
seeking more than a respite.

fighting for glory
now such a foolish ideal.

for glory is costly
and a burden to wield.

glory took my peace,
glory took my pride

all that's left now
is sorrow and lies.

the dust in the air clears,
the blood on my sword dries.

another battle laid to rest,
another coffin on my mind.

i feel my resolve wavering
death's shadow draws nigh

start to raise my sword...
but drop it to my side.

for death i'll gladly embrace
in his presence i'll abide

anything to ease the memories
ravaging my mind...

-DL Martin

This one makes me want to cry. The burden of this is heavy indeed. This further exemplifies traveling roads that are only in one direction ...unable to reclaim steps taken, the portions of self that are lost in each step. Relinquishing resolve for peace of mind. Sorrowful endings. Your talent is awesome. As sad as this trilogy makes me I am really enjoying your creativity.
