"Iris & Mercury"
  by Snugasaglove
  - This Poem is a response to the poem iris - a find by heaviness

Her name means "Rainbow"
The coloring of a striking ocular tableaux
Able to redress or bless
The namesake of a Greek goddess
A messenger doing the bidding of each God
Optically representing truth or facade
Bursting forth from a vibrant pallete
A radiant shower
A rich kaleidoscopic flower
Holographically, hues entangle
Depending on the light shone on each angle
Iridescent.

His name means "Merchant"
Ways and means, he'll craftily supplant
Derived from the Latin tongue
As a full mirrored reflection, he sprung
A messenger to each Roman God
Swift of feet, nimbly shod
Also representing a celestial globe
And as a tool for a calibrated probe
A thermal test
Better read than guessed
Hg on the periodic table
Erratic and unstable
Mercurial.

Oh, now, this is instructional with a dash of sass thrown in for taste!...I like the breakdown of each from concrete to abstract, explaining along the way each aspect of Iris and Mercury.

I'm a total sucker for mythology & this wonderfully accurate piece definitely hit the spot. I love every letter of every syllable of every microcosm of these untouchable beings in which you gave them life once again thru a creatively prolific & powerful word. Congrats on your triumph of expression & literary brilliance

Very interesting. Its amazing how some names derive. So many interesting stories. Although I grew up with a girl name Iris. She was not as you described. She was a mean bully. As a matter of fact she inspired some of the stories I told my children.
