My son was born 2 years
after my mother passed away
I love the way he looks exactly like her
I was in labor 5 days
Giving birth to my son with a hole
In is heart
I still love God for not making it 6 days
With a son without breath in his lungs
I had to travel by myself to another state
For his surgery when he was only 4 months
I love the way the nurses allowed me to stay
In the room next door the entire 2 weeks of recovery
FREE OF CHARGE
My son was not talking by the age of 1
Not one word
No “mama”
No “Dada”
But I loved his boisterous laugh he
Greeted me with every morning
My son is 11 years old now
He was born with 80% hearing loss
I love the way he has learned to speak by reading lips
He reads 7th grade books and is
An A student in Math, Science and Social Studies
My son’s current teachers are a joke
They thought that his hearing aides meant
He was mentally challenged
I love the way he showed them
He will be graduating with honors from the 5th grade

My son has taught me how to love
