Have you seen me?
Cries the girl behind the face on the wall
Blond hair
Blue eyes
And five feet tall
And 12 years old
Who knew everything about technology
But didn't know a thing at all about life
So she made her name known on her MySpace page
Lied about her age
Like the truth would have even changed the outcome
So they come to her profile
And they check out her stats
And they drool at her picture
And ignore the fact that she looks
12 years old
And she posed in her pictures
And made grown woman blush
And made grown men rush to her figure
And they figure what nobody knows will never hurt them
And she figured it was all harmless fun to tease and flirt with men
And one day she decided to reach out to a fan
A middle aged man
With a sinister plan
And he told her everything she wanted to hear
And he told her about love
And he cuddled her fears
Until she trusted him more than her parents
Until she belived he loved her more than anyone had
So he filled her head with delusions
And marketed on her confusion
Using her naïve to his advantage
And because of this he managed to make her leave her comfort zone
And made her leave her home
And now more than ever she was truly alone
And while she left with good intentions
He conveniently forgot to mention that she would never be the same
And after one meeting her whole life would change
And after one meeting he would replace her innocence with shame
And regret is all that would remain
And now she stares back to us on the television screen
A still picture in time of the newest missing pre-teen
And it seems nobody realizes this is epidemic
And it seems nobody is getting sick of this
It's just talk around the water cooler
It's just chat around the dinner table
And then it just dies down until another child is gone
And even then we just fold our arms and shake our heads
And point our fingers at the televsion sets
And then we're cautious until the hype dies down
And then we lie to ourselves that "it will never be my child"
And we talk ourselves into believing that we know all that's going on
Until one day when it hits us at home
And you begin to search through the album to find a picture
And you scan it on a paper that says "Have you seen me"
And you place it on the wall of photographic history
And she's blond hair
Blue eyes
And five feet tall
12 years old
But that was 12 years old ago
And now they've age-enhanced the photo
And now more faces cover the wall
Faces who only wanted to be seen
Desparately asking now "Have you seen me"
