"Cognition"
  by DL Martin

Am I just wasting my time?
Sitting here, immersed in rhyme

Reading others thoughts
And innermost minds

All penned with a purpose,
Dying to come alive

Yet with every word
That flashes before my eyes
I sense and perceive more of the divine

...

I witness others hearts breaking
And mending with time

I feel all their pain
'Cause it resonates with mine

I grow and enlarge thru poetic royalty's scribes.
Lyrical emeralds & diamonds,
Immaculately shined.

Yet all of these written treasures
Are ultimately set aside

Their purpose misunderstood...
Their worth belied.

So again I inquire,
Of enlightened minds

Am I just sitting here,
Wasting my time?

- DL Martin

This is so real. So well thought of. I can imagine you sitting there with a pen and pad going to work. Barely thinking too much but thinking enough.

Well poet I would stand and offer what I hope is a resounding NO. Your thoughts and creative expression could not be considered a waste of time by any means. Certainly not in my view but I know as well that it is just as well thought of in the view of many others I am familiar with. I must agree with Alastor and the details of his comment. Though it may be considered merely the opinion of the beholder please believe when I say there is much more derived from your work and ability than the word a...
